Muffled hearing
Sounds seem quieter or less clear.
Blocked or full ears
Pressure or fullness in one or both ears.
Ringing or buzzing
Wax can sometimes contribute to tinnitus symptoms.
Itchiness or discomfort
Irritation within the ear canal
Hearing aid problems
Whistling, weak sound, or poor fittings

For most people, the procedure is quick and well tolerated, and relief from that blocked or muffled sensation can be immediate once the obstruction is removed.
Why we use microsuction:
Water-free: No flushing or ear syringing
Precise: Wax is removed under direct visual guidance
Controlled: Only the wax that needs removing is targeted
Efficient: Treatment can usually be completed in a single appointment
Professional: Performed by trained hearing professionals who can also assess your ears and hearing
And because Australian Audiology provides complete hearing care, we also include a hearing check at no extra cost, helping determine whether anything apart from earwax may be affecting how well you hear.

We'll inspect your ears to identify the blockage and ensure that microsuction is appropriate.

Ear wax is carefully removed using controlled microsuction and visual guidance from a video otoscope.

Most clients notice an immediate improvement in the blocked or muffled sensation once the wax is removed.

We'll check your hearing at no extra cost, to determine if anything may be affecting how well you hear.

"Handy location"
Had our hearing tested and ears checked for wax build up.
Tanya at reception was very helpful with organising a free check using our concession cards (much appreciated).
Orianne tested our ears and explained the results and how to improve our ear health. All up, the process took about 20 to 30 min per person.
Handy location in Victoria Point Shopping Centre, not far from the bottom entrance.

"microsuction method"
I have been coming to this place for the last several years.
They regularly clean my ears using the microsuction method, which no other hearing place around Tweed offers.
I got my hearing aids here too, and they work amazing.
- Clare Theuerkauf

"highly recommend"
Wow, I’ve just been to Australian Audiology at Tweed City. I have had the best experience of courtesy, friendliness, plus success in clearing my very difficult ears.
I highly recommend this small business. They need all the custom that you can give them. Last thing, I am treated as a person. This does not happen in the larger hearing places.
Thank you, Annika, for cleaning my ears!
- Pamela New

"Amazing"
Amazing what they could do for me. Service was extraordinary.

Really good experience. Gentle and informed treatment throughout the procedure.

Microsuction is a professional technique that allows your hearing specialist to view the ear canal under magnification while carefully removing excess or impacted wax using controlled suction. This gives the clinician excellent visibility and control throughout the procedure.
Earwax build-up can cause muffled hearing, blocked or full ears, tinnitus, discomfort and problems with hearing aids.
However, these symptoms can have other causes. That's one advantage of having your ears treated by Australian Audiology. We're hearing specialists, not simply an earwax removal service.
Once the wax has been removed, we'll also check your hearing at no extra cost.

For many people, microsuction is preferred because it does not use water pressure. The clinician can view the ear canal clearly while removing the wax, which allows for a controlled and precise procedure.
Risk of Injury: Inserting objects like cotton swabs or hairpins into your ear can push earwax deeper into the ear canal, potentially causing impaction or damage to the delicate structures of the ear, including the eardrum.
Infections: Improper earwax removal techniques can introduce bacteria into the ear canal, leading to infections. Ear candles, in particular, have been associated with burns and other injuries.
Ineffectiveness: Many home remedies do not effectively remove earwax and can exacerbate the problem by compacting the earwax further. Such actions can lead to more serious blockages that require professional intervention.
Hearing Damage: Pushing earwax further into the ear canal or damaging the ear canal can result in temporary or permanent hearing loss.
Professional Care: Trained audiologists perform professional earwax removal methods, such as microsuction, using specialised equipment. These methods are safe, effective, and they mitigate the risks associated with home remedies.
To ensure the safety and health of your ears, it is always best to seek professional help for earwax removal. Our earwax removal service using microsuction is a safe, quick, and painless solution performed by experienced audiologists.

Our standard private fee for microsuction earwax removal is $150.
For a limited time, Australian Audiology is offering a special promotional price of $99 at our Mt Ommaney and Hyperdome clinics.
Eligible pensioners and veterans may be able to receive earwax removal FREE, when they transfer to Australian Audiology Hearing Specialists.
All appointments also includes a hearing check at no extra cost.
Yes, subject to the offer conditions.
Australian Audiology offers FREE earwax removal to eligible pensioners and veterans who:
receive a new Hearing Services Program voucher and nominate Australian Audiology Hearing Specialists as their hearing care provider, or
are already with another Hearing Services Program provider and transfer their hearing care to Australian Audiology Hearing Specialists.
If you're already an HSP client elsewhere, our team can help you with the transfer process.
If you're unsure whether you qualify, just request an appointment and we can discuss your circumstances.
*Conditions apply. Free earwax removal is an Australian Audiology Hearing Specialists offer and is not an entitlement or funded service under the Hearing Services Program.
If your ears are clear but your hearing isn't what it should be, we'll explain what we've found and whether further assessment is needed.
As a full-service independent hearing care provider, Australian Audiology can provide comprehensive hearing assessments and ongoing hearing care if required.
